WARRENDALE, Pa., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Renal Solutions, Inc., the exclusive provider of advanced sorbent hemodialysis products and services for treatment of patients with renal failure, announced today that it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its newly enhanced Allient(R) Sorbent Hemodialysis System in chronic and acute hemodialysis applications. The new Allient System features improvements in ease of manufacturing, service and user-friendliness. State looking to smokers to finance health care law
A $1 increase would bring it to $6.41, or about 32 cents per cigarette. Harwich resident Carol Hughes said the price hike wouldn't keep her from smoking. "I won't stop, but I would have to smoke less," she said, working at a Christy's in Dennisport on Route 28. Hughes said she used to smoke 10 packs a week, but as state taxes have risen, she's reduced it to five packs a week. "To me, they are forcing you to stop smoking," Hughes said.

Since last year, 300,000 state residents have signed up for private or state subsidized health care plans. Gov. Deval Patrick proposed spending $400 million more on health care in the 2009 fiscal budget, in part as a result of rising enrollment in the state's subsidized health insurance programs.

Winter guard is most popular among schools in eastern Allegheny County and Westmoreland County. The competitions are on two circuits: the Three Rivers Winter Ensemble Association and the Tournament Indoor Association. Both feed into larger circuits, the Winter Guard International and the Tournament of Bands, a mid-Atlantic organization. Some groups compete nationally while others do only regional circuits, said Jan McMahon, circuit director for Three Rivers ensemble, which has about 50 participating units. Most of the scholastic units include students who are also involved with their school's marching band, she said. .
