YESTERDAY'S RUMORS!

Hip-Hop Rumors: Lauren London & Mos Def? Ja Rule to Retire? New Lil' Wayne Video!

JAY-Z AND MARY J. BLIGE CD?

I know how true this is, but the source is pretty good! I heard that Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z might be in talks to do an album. Basically, this is a concept album in the same spirit as Jay-Z's Best of Both Worlds with R. Kelly. Mary and Jay have worked together in the past for years and years. I think it could be a good deal.

Cleaning up Utah Lake ecosystem may be tricky and expensive

A forthcoming report says millions of carp are actually protecting Utah Lake from massive dead zones as a result of giant algae blooms.

The report underscores the fact that cleaning up a damaged ecosystem is at best tricky -- and not without risk.

Naysayers critical of a massive and expensive cleanup effort now underway at Utah Lake have said that the lake is too far gone to save native species on the brink of extinction, and should be left for the many introduced species that now populate the waters.

But the forthcoming report shows that even the now-dominate non-native fish may be facing deadly challenges as the lake's ecosystem veers further off course.

For years the state has been working on a federally mandated report to assess two major pollutants -- phosphorus and mineral salts -- in Utah Lake.

The Savvy Shopper

Plus, it's better than any catwalk in Paris or Milan because it's the clothes real people actually wear.

But my version of reality television practically turned to the sci-fi channel's horror night. I actually saw a grown woman swaddled in a full-size fleece blanket. She wasn't the only atrocity. I should have been passing out those funny black bars fashion magazines use when they take a snapshot of a real person on the street that's a dreaded "fashion don't." (One of my fears in life is to open one of those magazines and see the black bar over my eyes. I'm fortunate my life allows these trivial concerns.) I realize comfort is a concern when we're all packed in planes like bargain basement bins. But, really. Must we literally roll out of bed? Here's where this savvy shopper can help.

Comfort does not equal giving up style. Let's start with your feet. This spring flats are everywhere. You don't have to smoosh your foot into a pointed toe shoe (though that's what this savvy shopper will be wearing). Ballet flats are big. If you can't imagine hoofing through the airport in those shoes, there are stylish sneakers on the market. Please don't bring your dirty, smelly old basketball shoes. No one wants to watch you take them off when you it's time to go through security.

Comfy pants are essential. Pajamas are not pants. Sweatpants don't count. Actual pants. Even a pair of nice jeans get a thumbs up from this frequent flyer. Plan for the changing temperatures. Your plane may actually feel like your destination the sweaty beaches of the Caribbean or the snowy mountains of Colorado. Pair a top with a blazer or jacket for a pulled together look that will help you no matter what the climate.

Why does this matter? It's no secret people who look nice and, above all, act nice get better treatment. Maybe that means getting bumped up to first class. Who doesn't want to fly through life with extra leg room?

Don't forget to let me know when you see a killer deal pass them along! I'll give them to all my new friends (aka you!) My e-mail is beth.wilkin@wtkr.com.

Jeff Thelen's Blog

Anyways often I see reporters and newspaper articles selling the sizzle so to speak on the article. For example USA Today did a pc that you should check out "Five Ways to shield Your Money from recession" by John Waggoner Feb 8, 2008 - Not a bad article but it was written with a slant to security products and did not take into account "Safe Money Solutions" which protects your priciple from loss even if the market takes a dive. As we approach retriement the Brokers wants to leave all your money in the market but in reality a person needs to put together a plan that protects those assets they want to use in retirement. The Rule of 100 applies (note any rule of thumb is just a starting point each person must look at their paticular case) but the rules work this way if you age 55 then 100 - 55 = 45% that you can risk in the market for potential gain but the other 55% should have principle protection.
